From a male point of view does your woman allow you to explore your true masculine self?
How and who do you confide in and how comfortable are you to express your vulnerability?
And…
As a woman, how would you like to see the men in your life feel free to express their vulnerability?
Traditionally heterosexual chaps, are renown for not being as in touch with their feelings as us females, and more reticent to seek help.
However times are a changing.
In general If we have a problem we off load to our girl friends or our gay boyfriends. We get it off our chest, it’s what females do. If that doesn’t sort it, we seek help from a therapist, we like to feel better.
During the past two decades that I have been running my motivational Mindset hypnotherapy practice a welcoming shift has occurred. Currently 65% of clients working with me are now men ranging in age from 35- 65.
So why is this? I believe it is due to a number of factors. Changing social patterns, TV and the media have made it more acceptable. High profile celebrities such as Princes Harry and William, Billy Connolly, Will Young, David Beckham, have come out revealing that at some point in their lives they have experienced vulnerability, low self esteem, eating disorders depression and sought help.
Their admission hasn’t lessened our opinion of them; in fact quite the reverse, we still regard them as highly successful masculine men. And even more we respect them to be able to admit to their vulnerability.
In the past men were reluctant to seek help, it was in their early programming, that big boys don’t cry. You put on a brave face, zipped up your lips and toughened up. Women have been working on themselves since the late sixties. And on the way we have in the process disempowered men. Men have become confused as to what exactly their role in life is.
Social scientist, Brene Brown and author of- Daring Greatly- How the Courage to Be Vulnerable Transforms the Way We Live, Love, Parent, and Lead- makes a valid point. As women we ask our men to expose their vulnerable sides, yes as soon as they do, we hate it, it makes us feel uncomfortable, we tell them to ‘man up’. We are actually uncomfortable when our men show vulnerability. We females don’t know what to do with it. Yet curiously we admire public figures who expose themselves as vulnerable.
The majority of men seeking help are coming forward and stepping up to define their role. They are looking to remain in touch with their masculinity whilst discovering how to be more comfortable with their emotional side. To control their stress, anxiety and deal with conflict in their relationships.
As women we must allow our men to be in their masculine. We must let men; our sons explore their true masculine energy. Being given permission to explore your true self, is liberating. Beneficial both mentally and physically because to remain bottled up is catastrophic to your health, leading to mental health issues, suicide, heart problems, strokes and cancers.
Men and women have the same issues, excessive stress, low confidence, self esteem body issues and a desire to lead healthier, happier lives. We all desire and want to feel more in control.
By providing a safe space in my motivational mindset sessions I help clients both men and women to consider another way of being. It’s a welcome alternative to putting up with the same old stuff, using a powerful set of tools including hypnosis, NLP (neuro linguistic programming) and coaching.
As John said, “you offered a relaxed environment, you listened and helped me discover my new blue print which changed the way I had been coming at life. I feel more positive, more relaxed, and more confident to be me in a much better place than before.”
If any of the above has resonated with you and you have an area of your life that you’re feeling particularly stressed about, that’s possibly affecting your work or personal life and it is preventing you from moving forwards.
Or you have an old habit or behaviour that you wish to break?
